The 48 Hour Opera Project is an annual speed creation event produced by Lucky Penny Opera that brings together teams of artists to create brand new 10-minute operas over the course of ONE WEEKEND.
This year, participants met on Friday, October 29th to receive an inspiration package
Over the next 48 hours they had to write a libretto, compose the score, learn, rehearse, record and perform for film, all culminating in a public viewing party with an audience choice prize of $500.
You may have missed the grand opening, but scroll below to see all six works, behind the scenes footage and more!

We hired creative technologist Annie Tung to serve as a “digital dramaturg” to help the teams develop their ideas and move past creative blocks.
Because she is amazing and an artist in her own right, she also created this awesome behind the scenes montage.

We love this project because it creates new relationships and cool art. We believe it makes the world a more fun and connected place.
Do you believe this, too?
Every dollar goes toward making sure artists hear about our projects, receive payment for their time, and have the support they need to make exciting and dynamic work happen.
